Holy Communion

Bethel Lutheran practices “Close” communion, that is, we wish for those taking communion to be “close” in what our church believes and practices.  We ask that those who wish to commune agree to the following statement:

I believe that God sent His Son, Jesus as my Savior from sin, Satan, and death, and that He is Lord of my life. I repent of my sins and ask God’s forgiveness for Jesus’ sake.  I believe the Risen Christ is really present in the Sacrament and that with the bread and wine all communicants receive His true Body and Blood.  I resolve to dedicate myself anew to my Lord through His Church, by regular worship, study of His Word, faithful witness, and loving service.

Membership

Anyone interested in becoming a Bethel member must attend our membership class: “Life with God @ Bethel.” This class includes:

  • 8 sessions (1 per week) (Min of 6 sessions required)
  • Introduction to who we are, what we believe and what Jesus has called us to be and do in the real world.
  • Covers our Lutheran beliefs as well as the ministries available at Bethel.

BAPTISM

Lutherans believe that the Bible teaches that a person is saved by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone. The Bible tells us that such “faith comes by hearing” (Rom 10:17). Jesus Himself commands Baptism and tells us that Baptism is water used together with the Word of God (Matt 28:19- 20). Because of this, we believe that Baptism is one of the miraculous means of grace (another is God’s Word as it is written or spoken), through which God creates and/or strengthens the gift of faith in a person’s heart.  If you wish to be baptized or to have a child baptized, please contact us.
